There are many herbal supplements that can be used to help you.  These can be used as an alternative treatment to prescription medications but should never be mixed with prescriptions without first talking to your health care provider

Human dietary supplement

Glucomannan is an ingredient in a variety of dietary supplement products marketed with claims that they aid in weight loss, but medical research has found no good evidence to support its use for this purpose. The claim is that it makes a gel when mixed with water, which can take up space in the stomach and linger there longer than water alone would, inducing a person to feel full after having eaten a smaller amount of food.

Psyllium is the common name used for several members of the plant genus Plantago whose seeds are used commercially for the production of mucilage. Psyllium is mainly used as a dietary fiber to relieve symptoms of both constipation and mild diarrhea, and occasionally as a food thickener. It is commonly used as a food ingredient in manufactured breakfast cereals.

The use of psyllium in the diet for three weeks or longer lowers blood cholesterol levels in people with elevated cholesterol and lowers blood glucose levels in people with type 2 diabetes. The use of psyllium for a month or longer produces a small reduction in systolic blood pressure.

Guar gum: This is a thickening agent in foods and medicines for humans and animals. Because it is gluten-free, it is used as an additive to replace wheat flour in baked goods. It has been shown to be beneficial to health. It has been shown to reduce serum cholesterol and lower blood glucose levels. Additional benefits have been seen in one's efforts to lose weight where, when ingested, its water-absorbing properties cause it to swell in the stomach causing a ‘full' sensation sooner.

Based on research one should drink at least 4 cups per day to get the benefits for weight loss.  Of course, green tea supplements are also available in drug stores and nutritional aisles.

There are a lot of supplements on the market that are made with pure green tea.

Studies are now being conducted to find out about its effectiveness for diabetes, weight loss, and high cholesterol.
