Live WITH diabetes, not FOR diabetes.

So, I Have “IT”! (Diabetes)

So, I Have “IT”! (Diabetes)

What Should I Do?

  1. Don't suppress your Emotions.  Cry it out if you must, realize the emotional shock & surprise that your body is going through. Let your body and mind absorb what is going on.
  2. Should I tell my family, my friends, my loved ones? I guess I don't have to make a formal announcement but I certainly want to inform my immediate family and close friend.
  3. Have you told them what to look for? What can happen to your body and what to do if anything happens?
  4. If I am out alone often, do I have the proper identification in case I should have an attack while I am out alone.
  5. Give Yourself a proper assessment of the problem.

Ask Yourself:

  • What changes must I make in order to live with this incurable disease that could, if not controlled, take my life?
  • Where will I be 5, 10, 15 years from now, as a result of this disease?
  • Will this condition prevent me from doing or accomplishing my goals in life?
  • Are others living with this diabetes? Is it a rare disease?
  • Am I strong enough to learn to live WITH this disease or will I give up and live FOR this disease? Will it, over time, control me or will I control it?
  • What changes should I make? Do I want to live a healthy life, in the future, even if I have to make meaningful changes to my life, now?
